When to seek professional advice

A change in your skin deserves the right advice. This page offers general guidance, not a diagnosis.

A new foot sore needs attention

Contact your doctor promptly about a new sore, blister or broken skin on your foot. Reduced sensation can mean an injury does not hurt.

Get urgent help for infection signs

Seek urgent medical care for swelling, discolouration, tenderness or leaking fluid, or a wound that is getting worse or not healing.

Who can help?

Your doctor, podiatrist or diabetes care team can assess changes and guide your care. A pharmacist can answer product questions. Pharmacy product advice does not replace assessment of a wound.

Prepare for the conversation

Explain where the change is, when you noticed it and whether it has changed. Bring the names of products you use. Do not delay seeking help to finish a checklist or download.
